We shouldn't be friends. We definitely shouldn't be lovers. He's the one man I should hate more than anyone else in the whole world. But I don't hate him. I want him. Desperately. Passionately. More than I've ever wanted anyone. He's also the last person I should love. But I do love him. And I'm not letting him walk away. No matter what his reasons. No matter what anyone else will think of the two of us being together. Since the moment I met him, he's the only person who truly understands me and what I've been through. He's the most compassionate man I've ever met, and I won't stand by and watch these threats against him continue. I will not let anyone hurt him. Especially my own family.
Length 101,781 words. This book contains explicit sexual content and graphic language. This is a re-release of a previously published work. It combines the original novel BREATHE with the separately released epilogue WHAT YOU DO TO ME.

I read the whole thing, but the only reason I did was to see who the bad guy was. I didn't care about either of these characters because I couldn't get past my suspension of disbelief. We're told that they live in a small town and everyone knows them and no one will understand them being together because of the accident...except no one seems to notice. No one says a word about the two men repeatedly sitting and drinking together in the bar. No one (except a couple cowardly, passive-aggressive loudmouths) even say anything at all to Jay or Lincoln. They are in this weird bubble of "We can't do this!"/"I can't quit you." and I really don't know why. Why do they even like each other? Why continue having sex with each other? They hadn't established a true friendship before Jay found out who Linc was, so I really don't understand why there was even a second time or a third time or a twentieth (these guys have a LOT of sex). So, yeah. I wanted to like this book, but the execution just wasn't there. The characters were juvenile in their thought processes and the plot was holey enough to pass for swiss cheese.

Breathe edition by Sloan Parker Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Interesting story of love that should not be but is. A story of understanding and accepting grief. Well written. Loved the characters.
This is a sad, somewhat tragic, dramatic story about Lincoln & Jay. The situation the MCs are in is like an unescapable web. The is a very good, well written story.
What a fantastic, haunting story this is. I think 9o% of the books I read, don't have a single, new concept. This is definitely an original. Both of the main characters are easy to fall in love with. The first third of this book nearly carried me under with the grief and depression everyone was struggling with. Fortunately, that is the part of the book that is the hottest or I think I would have either drowned in the depression it was causing or just thrown my hands in the air and given up. Well done, Sloan Parker!
As the title says, this is a good read, great if you're interested in my opinion. Instead of being just a tragic love story, this author crafted a story that is multi-layered and engaging. You are caught right from the first few pages. I loved the characters, both flawed but not irredeemably so. I was bound to the kindle until for the entire book, completely unable to set it down. In fact the original reason, I turned the computer on is to take a look for more Sloan Parker books. The price was higher than I like to pay for an e-book, but found it to be well worth the money. Too many times, the books are far too short. This one was just shy of a 5000 count. I love to read and in the genre - there are plenty of books were they sound pretty good, only to find they are too short, not written well, or just plain hard to read cause nobody bothered with the editing. So if you are interested in m/m romance, and like some well written emotion and not just a bunch of steamy love scenes - this is an excellent choice for you.
What a touching story about moving forward after a tragedy. This book had a lot of pain but there was hope and forgiveness too.
I am always amazed at the mental damage that results when people hold onto painful things and refuse to allow others around them to heal. It's also hard to see one child favored over another.
Jacob and Lincoln really had to man up and take control of their lives. They had to live for themselves despite their past mistakes. Forgiving oneself is the hardest thing to do but it's necessary.
I really appreciated Paul in this story, what a kind man. He made for a great supporting cast.
Sloane Parker can really create a story but you have to be willing to suspend belief with the idea that the widower had no idea what his wife's tried-and-convicted killer looked like? He never went to court or a hearing or saw a photo of the man who killed his wife? He has sex with the man, not knowing he was the man who killed his wife, and when he does realize who he is, he goes back for more! Inconceivable! The previously heterosexual widower tells his ex-inlaws that he's gay and there is hardly any discussion about this bombshell. Unbelievable! The widower breaks into his ex-inlaws home to look for evidence and is discovered by his ex father-in-law, but there is no questioning as to how the widower got into the house? Inconceivable! So many holes in this story. But, the biggest implausibility is the widower falling in lovw with the man who accidentally killed his wife.
What a great story with a wonderful plot something that I had not read before. I kept trying to figure out who the bad one was but really didn't until the author was ready to reveal who it was. This story was so great I fell in love with both Jay and Lincoln along with his sister and her kids. You will not n.r disappointed with this book or with the way it's written had me from page one I couldn't stop until I finished this story took a few hours but it was so worth the read.
Such strong characters with a story that's so different than most gay romance novels. Loved it...
