Thoroughly enjoyed Cassia's descriptions of her travels. How wonderful to be able to visit and integrate job, life, and sightseeing across the globe. Can't wait for her upcoming space opera fiction series to be published!
I have been to several of the same countries at different times. The history and culture never changes and the attitudes of the locals help make your trip more enjoyable or . . . not. I HIGHLY recommend this book to all and have recommended it to all my reading friends who have the same sense of humor as the author.
This is three hours of my life and three dollars I won't get back. Author doesn't have any confidence in her story - the first section is a note letting the reader know that she hasn't learned anything profound and traveled all-expenses-paid. Grammar is not a thing.
Fantastic book!
I have travelled widely, but my adventures pale in comparison to the authors. How she managed to get into so many weird and wonderful situations, I don't know. I have never laughed so much whilst reading a travel book.
Somehow reminiscent of the Bill Bryson's travelogues.
Thoroughly enjoyable read.
This is a fun book to read and explore places and times that are/were interesting -- the writing is casual, quick and funny, even as you're finding out about some familiar and some not-so-familiar places. Really enjoyed it! The author is at time witty and humourous and at others interesting and philosophical. I hope we get to explore more lands with her in the future.
Meare travels through many interesting places, or at least they sound very interesting. There is a lot of humor, some reflection and bits and pieces of history and culture that really help you understand Russians, Algerians, Spaniards, Sicilians and a lot of other people better than you did before. very fun to read and relax....
Can't wait for Vol. II !! Fans of travel writing will enjoy this book for it's captivating descriptions of places and people. Cassia writes well and her humor is smirk worthy and enjoyable throughout. Even when describing a poor fellow getting a hatchet in the head. Thankfully, we are spared the introspection and spiritual epiphanies found in many other travel memoirs. If that's your preference, then this book may not be. The only regret I have is having read this one too fast. Well worth your time. A great read!
